yes, I know...

a little home for you

just like me
you want one of these
too
~~
a little home where the floor boards squeak
under your feet
when you're up in the middle of the night
for a glass of water
~~
a little home where even when the windows are pinched tightly closed
breezes quietly flutter in
and
land on your cheeks like newly hatched butterflies
~~
a little home where the lamps turned on at dusk
reach out to you like a life preserver
and
bring you home

Regardless of its shape and size, that feeling you've just evoked is what I work to make my house. For me. For others.

well I just sat here and started blubbering. still am. The tender words, I get it, but my house is so wrecked, has been for so long, every room a thousand projects we don't have money to even START, my kitchen in parts all over the house and patio, and even though I was home yesterday and cleaned cleaned cleaned (trying to drown out the pound of a migraine so bad I was blind in my right eye and occasionally throwing up), I looked around after and couldn't see 'home'. I just want OUT OF HERE. I watched some HGTV and wanted to be one of those CONSUMERS with A LOT OF DAMN MONEY who could be fussy about the finish of their appliances and whether the master bath had two sinks ...

sorry. it's just building on me in the worst way. My 'nest' is just an ugly, disarranged, wrecked, embarrassing and AT A STAND STILL problem for us.

Everytime we pass an old house like that, my wife says,"I'd love to have that house."

mine is that ...with a million "issues" it is our 35 year old home

I relish the photo of this part of a hme with all the different textures

Hi Beth,

I'll pass on the squeaky floorboards but the rest sounds heavenly!
